As our squad night approached, the officers of the 75th began to look for a good fight. Namur looked to be that fight, and indeed it did became one hell of a smack down.

Namur was badly isolated on the Allied lines. It had Axis towns to its east, south, and west. This gave the Axis three potential spawnables. The Axis town to the south was stacked with two ground brigades. All told, there were four Axis brigades gearing up to assault the town.

When the 75th entered town, the Axis assault had already begun, but it was still in its preliminary phase. With a quick sweep through the towns CPs to ensure they were not about to fall, the 75th pushed its perimeter out around town. The enemy contacts were predominately to the south east, so that is where the 75th concentrated its forces. Nero, Dal, and Kew worked the south east quadrant outside of town. Several tanks, atgs, and infantry were found, engaged, and annihilated.

At that same time, Eurogeek, Jaws909, Hawker14, and Bane92 worked the southern road lines. Multiple enemy infantry were engaged approaching along the southern road bush lines. Two opels were also spotted and destroyed.

The Axis attackers were however determined, and Axis forces managed to capture the eastern spawnable CP. Nero’s team was ordered to fall back and retake the eastern cp. Coldwind and Snowcat also assisted Nero’s team. The fighting around the eastern CP became intense. Several Axis infantry were able to slip past the battle and head west towards their other spawnable CPs. At this time, Eurogeek’s team was called back to help in the city defense. With the reinforcements from Eurogeek’s team, the Axis were not able to stand the full brunt of the 75th’s determination. After several close attempts by 75th members, Coldwind was able to get into the CP and cap it.

Seconds later, the far west CP and the western spawnable both fell to enemy hands. Nero316, Hawker14, and Bane92 were ordered to remain and guard the eastern CP while the rest of the 75th mobilized to free the western side of town. Another great fight ensued over the western spawnable. Eurogeek, Kew, Dal, and Jaws managed to capture and secure the western side of town.

With enemy infantry all around town, the 75th was divided into three teams. Nero316, Hawker, and Bane92 were responsible for the eastern CP. Eurogeek, Gaven, and Kew were responsible for the center spawnable CP, and Coldwind, Jaws909, and Snowcat were responsible for the western spawnable CP.

The next Axis assault came, and it came hard. The center spawnable CP was swarmed by Axis infantry. Our team defending the center spawnable CP was mowed down, but to their credit they took several Axis with them. The center spawnable CP fell to the Axis, and the Axis wasted no time in pouring troops out of the depot and into Namur. It quickly became clear that the 75th had to reposition its troops. Everyone except Nero and Coldwind were released to Eurogeek to assist in retaking the center spawnable CP. Nero remained at the eastern CP to guard it. Coldwind remained at the western spawnable CP to guard it.

The engagement over the center spawnable CP lasted several minutes. The 75th charged the CP several times, but were halted each time. At the same time, additional Axis forces assaulted both the western and eastern spawnable CPs simultaneously. Nero killed two EI storming his CP, but was gunned down by a third. Nero quickly spawned back in and killed the capping Axis infantry on the table. Nero then held off several more Axis assaults in heroic fashion. Well done! At the same time, Coldwind’s CP was assaulted by two Axis infantry, but they were quickly killed. Both Coldwind and Nero’s positions were becoming extremely tenuous.

Aware of how dire the situation was, the remaining members of the 75th under Eurogeek’s leadership rallied and retook the center spawnable CP, liberating the town.

Immediately thereafter, the 75th was redistributed among the three spawnable CPs to ensure that there was no single weak point. Soon thereafter, the Axis lost the belly to fight. The ensuing hour then consisted of scouts being sent out to locate and eliminate the enemy MSPs, which they did. Soon thereafter, the Axis halted their attack on Namur.

Well done gentlemen. The teamwork in Namur was superb. Vastly outnumbered and in a very indefensible position, you held back the Axis hordes and scored a very hard fought victory for the Allies. You should all be proud.

S!

Yep. The assault to retake the center CP did get rather ugly Smile
