Andenne – No Man’s Land Battle

As the 75th began to form up, it became obvious that the Axis high command wanted Andenne. Andenne sits between the towns of Namur and Huy. Andenne was owned by the British forces, but had no brigade garrisoned in town.

As Andenne’s EWS went off, the 75th decided to defend the town, even though they would be at the great disadvantage of having to defend from their Namur FB. Coldwind and Alcxam both brought out MSs to set up defensively in town, but Coldwind was quickly discovered on the western side of Andenne and destroyed. Luckily, Alcxam was able to position and deploy his MS to the south of Andenne. Soon thereafter, the 75th were working their way into town.

By the time elements of the 75th reached town, the AB was the only CP that remained Allied. The 75th quickly got to work recapping the southern CPs in town. Gaven downed several EI with his sniper rifle while Coldwind, Alcxam, and Jaws909 worked their way into town.

The city CP and the two southern depots were quickly retaken. This left the AB and CPs north of the river, which had been captured by Axis forces. A struggle then ensued to cross the destroyed bridge to the north and secure the AB.

An enemy panzer was guarding the AB, but the 75th was reinforced by several members who logged on, including Nero316 and Eurogeek. With these additional forces, the 75th was able to get across the river and recap the AB and the northern CP, which kicked the enemy AO and effectively ended the battle in victory. Nice job guys!

Geel – Assault

The 75th next moved to assault the Axis held town of Geel. Geel presented a particularly difficult assignment because of its physical locality. Geel is a town of clustered CPs with one lone CP far to the south of town. In addition, the only access into Geel is from the south, which is laden with a bridge that can make an effective defensive choke point. Undaunted by these obstacles, the 75th set out with vigor and enthusiasm to take Geel.

The bridge to the south had been blown by Axis forces, so the first order of business became repairing the bridge. 75th forces quickly had the bridge up and repaired. MSs were subsequently sent out towards Geel. At this time the 75th divided their forces into two groups. One group was led by Nero316, whose objective was to circle far around town and assault from the north. Jaws909 took command of the second team, whose objective was to keep the enemy occupied in the south, and if possible to capture the southern spawnable CP.

Enemy forces reacted quickly to their EWS alarms. Axis forces scrambled to the south of town and fighting around the bridge erupted. Jaws909’s team valiantly fought back and forth across the river, coming close several times to capturing the southern spawnable. Nero’s team also performed brilliantly. Nero was able to slyly work his men around the battle and sneak north of town. Once the radios went hot, Nero’s team quickly capped three CPs in town, sending the Axis into a frenzy.

With the capture of the northern CPs in Geel, the Axis dumped reinforcements into town. Simply put, the attackers quickly became outnumbered by the defenders. At the same time, several panzers moved south to ensure that the bridge was covered.

With enemy numbers greatly increasing, it became apparent that the town of Geel would not fall. Take heart however in the fact that the 75th scared the hell out of the Axis in Geel. When 10 guys can force the enemy into deploying a defensive force of 25-30 guys, then you know you’re doing something right.

Both groups worked well as a team. Each team held to its objectives and each team’s members worked together in close coordination, following the directions of their team leader and working as a group. The coordination and communication was excellent. You all performed splendidly.

As always, comments, suggestions, or a simple S! are welcome and encouraged.
